Amy has been dancing since her feet could touch the floor. She learned the dances from her parents and grandparents in a close knit community that embraced the folk customs of Germany, Austria, and other European nations. For many years, Amy and her mother would create the costumes for the family to wear at events and competitions across the world. By attending Minneapolis Community and Technical College, she was able to hone her skills and move from the realm of home sewing to professional which led to her launching her own company, North Star Trachten, in 2012. She looks forward to providing an American source for authentic folk clothing to the many clubs across North America.
Amy's line is directly inspired by the ethnic clothing of the Bavarian and Austrian regions of Europe. Her goal is to bring the quality and tradition of these garments to the American folk community. By using modern color and fabric choices, this line is a refreshing look back to a more traditional time.
