Kelly's love of traveling is in part what got her started in apparel design. After seeing Isabelle de Borchgrave exhibition of paper dress replicas at the Medici Museum in Florence, she developed an interest in learning how to make ideas a reality using fabric as a medium. She continues to draw inspiration from world cultures, the Victorian period, costuming and the Steampunk subculture. After graduating, Kelly hopes to continue discovering new techniques to bring life to her creations using a diverse range of textiles.
My collection, Elemental Fae, is inspired by my love of fantastical creatures and the beauty of nature. Drawing inspiration from the elements — fire, earth, water, and wind. I have created four looks that embody each of these elements. I have a fascination with wings, and therefore decided to focus the collection faeries.
