The first time l knew l had the design bug was in the 6th grade. l took a pair of black Guess jeans that l washed so many times that they weren’t cute anymore but they fit me so well l couldn’t throw them away. l bleached them first, tucked in each leg and made pleats & put safety pins on the inner & outer legs so the pleats would stay & added black rite dye on them. The jeans had a strip effect with the bleach shining through the super black parts, I took my black Coca Cola sweat shirt & cut up the sleeves & I wore a long sleeve t-shirt under it. Everyone at school asked me to make them an outfit. When I was 19 I came to MCTC for Retail & Fashion Management, back then they didn't have the Apparel Technologies program. It was all about the retail business & fashion management. l made it through the program & wanted more but l had kids so l had to go to work. With my dreams being put on hold l didn’t have the time to make clothes or even know how to, but l would design my own style or get a lot of things made & wore them. My friends & family loved the way l would dress when l went out & they would always ask me for help them have the right look for every occasion. At 23 l learned how to crochet & knit blankets, stuffed animals & hats very well, so l started to do it for other people & l made a nice amount of money off of it, after not being able to find a steady job l decided to come back to school for Apparel Design in 2010. l’ve decided to incorporate Lycra & Knits together to create my style of clothing.
